The 1883-O Morgan dollar is unusual in that it is a common date New Orleans silver dollar through the higher Mint State grades.

The 1883-O Morgan dollar did not suffer poor strikes and bag marks to the extent that other dates have. This has allowed more than 10,000 coins to survive in MS65 or higher. Note that populations rapidly restrict past this level. A high population and variable strike quality encourages buyers to be choosy.
