The Value of an 1894-O Morgan Dollar

The 1894-O Morgan dollar is yet another mintage that suffers from the "New Orleans Curse": strikes are weak and luster is poor. Part of this is from the Mint spacing the dies further apart than recommended. This attempt to extend die life at the cost of weakly struck Morgan dollars didn't really help.

As a result, most 1894-O Morgan dollars are flat and lifeless. Finding a well-struck 1894-O Morgan dollar is an exercise in frustration and futility without deep pockets.
